In-Home Puppy Training

 

The area that we receive more requests for help with than any other is in the early stages of bringing a puppy into the home.  This is simply due to the fact that many people simply do not know the correct techniques that make this transition period easy.  Once owners understand why the puppy behaves the way it does and what they can do to get the puppy to behave the way they want they find this period not only a lot easier but also vastly more enjoyable. 

To help with this period we conduct private In-Home lessons at a time that is convenient for the puppy owner, seven days a week.  On average we do between 1-2 in-home lessons when the pup is between 8-16 weeks.  In this time we help the new puppy owner cure many behavioural that can cause problems such as:

-Toilet/House Training

-Stopping the pup jumping on People

-Stopping puppy biting

-How to correctly socialise your pup (one of the most misunderstood areas in all dog training) both safely and effectively.

-Teaching the pup to Sit, Stand, Drop and Come

-How to teach the puppy to correctly interact with children and vice versa.

-Stopping the puppy from getting on the furniture

-To avoid or stop puppy chewing

-To avoid or stop digging, pulling washing off the line etc.

On average once we have these puppy behaviours under control and the pup is settled in nicely and behaving well we also normally conduct another 1-2 lessons when the pup gets to 5-6 months of age to improve and tighten the pups basic obedience as by this stage we are dealing with a more mature dog and can get better results on such things such as teaching to dog to walk nicely with the owner on a loose lead.

These lessons cost on average $110.00 per lesson with the lessons lasting approximately 1 hour with the first lesson lasting between 1 to 1 1/2 hrs.  As said above most people only need 1-2 lessons when the puppy is 8-16 weeks and 1-2 lessons when the pup gets to approximately 5-6 months of age.
